I have determined that the Shroud of Turin was initially transported, imageless, to an Arabic monastary in Edessa, Turkey by Joseph of Arimathea. The Arabic King there wanted proof that it was Christ's Shroud. He devised with some of the top Arabic sorcerors and alchemists to try and produce an image on the shroud because some of the sorcerors had done it before with other types of spirit infested places and garments.
The sorcerors went to work. They stretched out the shroud and coated it with a translucent gelatin pigment. They had already prepared a mortar and pestled pure iron oxide powder, magnetized the powder, and used blowers to fill the room with the shroud with magnetized iron oxide dust.
The dust settled and the spirit of Christ within the shroud drew the magnetized iron oxide particles into the image which is visible upon the Shroud.
You can even see the brush-strokes in the gelatin covering in the iron oxide image which clings to the gelatin substance.
The King was convinced and became a Christian.
In 994, the Shroud was moved to Samosata, Turkey, and sometime between 944 and 1204, the Shroud was moved to the capital of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople and stayed there until the Crusades when it came into the now shared hands of the Europeans, particularly the British, and the Holy Roman Empire along with the Byzantine Empire.
The shroud stayed with the Pope until between 1349-51, when a gentleman 'named' Geoffrey II. de Charny, who was said to have been imprisoned in Great Britain during those years but I believe was the original Geoffrey of Monmouth who hadn't died, as Geoffrey was Myrddin who hadn't died, wrote, as Geoffrey of Monmouth, the History of the Britons about King Arthur from a series of documents Arthur's sorceror, he, Myrddin, the real name of Merlin or Thlwarch Hen, had kept, mysteriously received the Shroud and displayed it under a false name in a church he built in Lirey, France. Both Geoffreys and Myrddin were the same undying man, Myrddin or Thlwarch Hen, who hadn't died. He just changed names.
The church knew and backed all of this shuffling and secret name changing!!
The reason the Shroud was moved from the Pope's possession to Merlin's, or de Charny's in France was because the whole Mediteranean Basin was under the threat of conquest by Tamburlaine, the Russian born, sheperd's son, who had risen into such a conquesting Monarch that all of the religions of the world lay prostrate before him. Tamburlaine had conquested Islam, Christianity, and Hindu religious areas, and when he died, he was even intending on invading China and conquesting the Buddhist religious areas. He called himself the scourge of God.
In Russia around 1988-89, President Gorbachov's life was threatened by Communist Party Officials. Now President Boris Yeltsin stood his ground and after defeating the uprising, became the new President up until now.
He could not have put down the Communist uprising without the absolutely vital assitance of one man who turned his tanks on the Communist plotter's military headquarters and made them surrender, by his force. Lebed was that man.

If you have read my opera, you know the lead female in the opera plays Jeanine Patricia Jacques. Jacques is the French nickname for peasant. When the Shroud was moved to Lirey, France, there was a peasant's rebellion in France called the Jacquerie Rebellion.
When Tamburlaine began to threaten the Holy Roman Empire along with the Turkish Empire, in Byzantium, the Pope became paranoid about the image on the Shroud and the Shroud itself.
